The use of collections can give you more options when selecting the dimension items you'd like to include in a deal by allowing you to view these items in different ways.
Let's look specifically at a Products dimension. Please note that this applies to all dimensions.
You could have just one Product collection, which includes all of your ‘Current Products’, with a set of attributes specifically for this collection. Shown below you can see one collection under the 'Products' dimension, called 'Current Products'.
You could then use selection rules to choose a particular selection of Products within the 'Current Products' collection. Here we have chosen 'Paint' from the Product Category attribute.
Alternatively, you could configure more than one collection if, for example, there is a particular range of products that you often select from.
Now we have two collections under the 'Products' dimension: 'Current Products' and 'Paint Products'.
As you can configure different attributes for different collections, you could set up your 'Paint Products' collection with attributes such as 'Color' and 'Size', giving you more options for setting up your selection rules for this particular collection, as shown below:
By using collections, you will be able to categorize your dimension items differently, allowing you to select different groups of dimension items for your deals. You can also select dimension items across several collections.
Admin users can configure collections for all of your dimensions. To find out how to create collections, go to our Create and publish a dimension collection article.
