A net spend value is used to compute the approval hierarchy for a trading programs. The signoff limit for each configured workflow role is compared with a calculated net spend from the corresponding trading program for the previous year (comparison trading programs). If the net spend exceeds the signoff limit for a workflow role, then that role will be included in the hierarchy. A user is also able to enter manual net spend values to drive the approval hierarchy when they start or edit the workflow.
The net spend value is calculated as actual transacted value minus actual rebates from the comparison trading program. The approval hierarchy will use the calculated value unless a manual net spend has been provided. If a comparison trading program cannot be found, then the user must provide manual net spend values. It will not be possible to start workflow or update the workflow pane if neither of these have been achieved.
